When her date exits the car as well, he sees a bloody detached hook embedded in the roof of the car — and realizes that the Hook Man would have scratched through to the interior if the car had they stayed at Lover's Lane any longer. Since then he has fed off the repressed emotions of clergy and their family.

Jacob is dispatched when all of these, the last being a silver chain Lori Sorenson wears, is melted. What actually occurred on the show has more in common with an urban legend that folklorists call "The Boyfriend's Death" than with the Hook Man legend known as "The Hook". Some of the key features of The Hook are that there is a radio warning of an escaped convict or madman, that the couple survives, and that they find the hook embedded in the car door once they are safely home. It has been told in the U.

The Boyfriend's Death urban legend dates from the s and has some similarities but many differences from The Hook. The Boyfriend's Death is also set on Lover's Lane, and occasionally interpolates the "radio warning" aspect of The Hook, but the most common similarity in the U. It is his fingernails that have been making the scratching sounds.

There are non-hookman versions of The Boyfriend's Death, including a Navajo version that attributes the death to a skinwalker. Brilliant mix of puzzles and hidden objects Experience bone-chilling surprises Enjoy beautiful graphics The scariest hidden object game ever! See More Games. Reviews at a Glance. Customer Reviews. Campfire Legends: The Hookman is rated 3. Rated 5 out of 5 by eedebeep from A fantastic horror SE! I missed this game when it was released, and am sorry I didn't get to play it sooner! This is exactly what the title says: a scary campfire story to keep you on the edge of your seat.

The game is mostly hidden objects, and they are pretty difficult which I like.

You may have to search several areas for the items you need. The games aren't too hard but enjoyable. As soon as I finished I bought the other 2 Campfire Legend games. Highly recommended if you enjoy a good thrill! Date published: Rated 5 out of 5 by EzgiMelody from Very Good!! First game of the series.

The Hookmen

And the most difficult one I think. Some puzzles are really hard to solve. Thank you Big Fish. When I first started the game, I thought it looked to be one of those easy games where there would be a lot of hand holding. I was absolutely wrong. This is not one of those way too easy games, that there are too many of for my taste.

You had to really look for the hidden objects, they are not laid out in front of you in plain view. This is mostly a hidden object game with a few puzzles. I'm tired of games that are listed under hidden objects and turn out to be almost entirely puzzles. Most of the things you need to find are small, you really have to look closely. People with bad eyes may want to skip this one, but for those of you that love a challenging hidden object game I've already purchased the two other Campfire Legends games, I hope they are as good as this one! It is an older game and I finished it in I have played MANY games by now and this is one of the only ones that actually frightened me out of my chair.

This part is near the end and not in the demo.

THE HOOKMEN by Timothy Hillmer | Kirkus Reviews

This series still stands out as a favorite of mine. It can be challenging at times. This is a high quality series and the last one even offers more than many CE do for the SE price. The Last Act 3, has a great screensaver, DL concept art, in game strategy guide and you can replay the amazing cut scenes. In order to appreciate these games though, I would suggest playing them in order. I highly recommend this series.

Rated 5 out of 5 by schefnh from A real challenge After about 3 weeks I finally finished this fun game using a walkthru and 3 videos. I ran out of the firefly hints early on so had to keep plugging away. This is the best of the campfire legend games but the other 2 are good too. There is no puzzle skip buttons so it is all up to the player. These games are so unique, you really get into them. The voice overs and the art work are fantastic.

It is also designed to scare you from time to time with some jump scares. These are great and I am glad I found them. Ill get them all. Rated 5 out of 5 by JuJugamer from No lurid colors! It's worth 4 stars just because of the coloring. I am sooo tired of the garish colors so popular with the devs these days.

Campfire Legends: The Hookman (Part 3): The Final Puzzle

The moment I see those neon colors while I'm shopping for a game I just move on. It's spooky enough to have made me jump a couple times and some of the puzzles are difficult enough that I needed help from youtube. That's better than the the simple minded same old same old. The most refreshing thing about the plot was that there actually was one and it was neither tired nor predictable. Sort of short but it kept me interested all the way through. Most games by the mainstream devs bore me so badly that I start skipping puzzles just to get it over with.

So if you're tired of haunted hotels and castles and unicorns and purple moonlight you just might enjoy this. Rated 5 out of 5 by LaTusita from Think outside the box Loved this game and the sequels.

This is not your usual HOG and it took me a while to get the hang of finding items but that was O. I liked the challenge of this game. The fireflies were a great hint idea because you could use some to point you in a direction or use your full complement to solve your problem.
